Atropine and drugs of the same class may modify the anticholinergic effect of pheniramine maleate. Diphenylhydantoin and barbiturates accelerate the elimination of dexamethasone from plasma, especially by increasing the transformation into more polar metabolites. It decreases the response of coumarin anticoagulants and hypoglycemic agents. Associated with diuretics that favor the elimination of potassium (thiazides, furosemide, ethacrynic acid) can lead to hypokalemia. Methionine is not associated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors. Pheniramine maleate in very high doses can have a hallucinogenic effect.
