Indications:
Procto-Glyvenol is used for the local treatment of external and internal hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are inflammations of the veins in the rectum or anal area that cause local pain, burning and itching.
Tribenoside acts locally on the causes of inflammation in the small blood vessels.
Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that quickly relieves itching, burning and pain caused by hemorrhoids.
Contraindications:
Do not use Procto-Glyvenol:
-if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to tribenoside, lidocaine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Precautions:
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Procto-Glyvenol.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
You should not use Procto-Glyvenol in the first 3 months of pregnancy.
You can use Procto-Glyvenol from the 4th month of pregnancy or when breast-feeding, but only on the advice of your doctor; do not exceed the recommended dose.
Driving and using machines:
Procto-Glyvenol does not affect the ability to drive or use machines.
How to take:
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
When symptoms are acute:
Use one suppository twice a day (once in the morning and once in the evening).
When symptoms have resolved:
Use one suppository once a day.
Do not exceed the recommended dose.
How long to use Procto-Glyvenol:
You should use Procto-Glyvenol until symptoms resolve.
If symptoms persist for more than a week, you should see a doctor.
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
Composition:
- The active substances are tribenoside and lidocaine. One suppository contains 400 mg tribenoside and 40 mg lidocaine.
- The other components are: solid semi-synthetic glycerides no.1 (Witepsol E85) and solid semi-synthetic glycerides no.2 (Witepsol W35).
