Buscopan 10 mg 20 Dragees, Sanofi – Abdominal Cramp & Spasm Relief

Indications:
Buscopan is used to relieve smooth muscle spasms in the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts (stomach, intestines, biliary tract, and urinary tract). It can be used, for example, for biliary or renal colic, gastrointestinal spasms of various origins, irritable bowel syndrome, or menstrual pain.

Contraindications:
Do not use Buscopan:
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to butylscopolamine bromide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Precautions:
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Buscopan.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and fertility:
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
As a precautionary measure, it is preferable to avoid using Buscopan during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Driving and using machines:
No studies are available on the effects on the ability to drive and use machines.

Method of administration:
The usual dose is:
Adults: the recommended dose is 2 Buscopan tablets, 4 times daily. For the relief of symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, the recommended starting dose is one Buscopan tablet, 3 times daily. If necessary, this dose may be increased to 2 Buscopan sugar-coated tablets, 4 times daily.

Children aged 6 to 12 years: the recommended dose is one Buscopan sugar-coated tablet, 3 times daily.
Buscopan is administered orally.
The sugar-coated tablets should be swallowed whole with a sufficient amount of liquid.

Composition:
- The active substance is butylscopolamine bromide. Each sugar-coated tablet contains 10 mg of butylscopolamine bromide.
- The other ingredients are: anhydrous calcium hydrogen phosphate, dried maize starch, soluble maize starch, colloidal anhydrous silica, tartaric acid, stearic acid, povidone, sucrose, talc, powdered acacia, titanium dioxide (E 171), macrogol 6000, white wax, carnauba wax.
