Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility:
The medicine belongs to a group whose administration may impair fertility.
The effect is reversible
once administration has been stopped.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
In the first two trimesters of pregnancy, acetylsalicylic acid can be administered, but only on the advice of the doctor; it is recommended to avoid chronic treatment with doses > 150 mg per day.
Epidemiological studies in pregnant women have not revealed teratogenic and fetotoxic effects under the conditions of administration in the first 2 trimesters of pregnancy, but experience is limited for chronic use of high doses.
In the last trimester of pregnancy, acetylsalicylic acid is contraindicated (except for occasional use for certain very limited cardiological and obstetric indications).
Use in the last trimester of pregnancy has been associated with cardiopulmonary and renal toxicity in the fetus, premature closure of the ductus arteriosus, delayed and prolonged labor (for high doses of acetylsalicylic acid) and increased frequency of hemorrhagic accidents (including for low doses).
Since acetylsalicylic acid is excreted in breast milk, use during breastfeeding should be avoided, or breastfeeding should be discontinued, depending on the therapeutic risk/potential benefit ratio for the infant.
