Iodine cutaneous solution, 10%, 1000 ml

Indications:
Iodine, cutaneous solution, 10%  
Preoperative disinfection of the skin and mucous membranes.
Asepsis of superficial wounds, including skin burns.
Adjuvant in bacterial and fungal infections of the skin and mucous membranes or susceptible to superinfections.
Iodine does not sterilize the skin, it only temporarily reduces the number of microorganisms.

Contraindications:
- hypersensitivity to povidone or any of the excipients. 

Precautions:
Before using Iodine, cutaneous solution, 10%, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Pregnancy, lactation and fertility:
Since absorbed iodine can cross the feto-placental barrier, it is recommended to avoid the use of Iodine in the first trimester of pregnancy and prolonged use in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy is contraindicated. Prolonged administration of the drug or use near delivery produces a significant absorption of iodine, with fetal toxicity: hypothyroidism or neonatal goiter.
The administration of Iodine is contraindicated during lactation, because absorbed iodine is excreted in breast milk. 

Driving and using machines:
Iodine has no influence on the ability to drive or use machines. 

Administration:
Dosage and administration:
Iodine is applied either as is or diluted, depending on the therapeutic indication and the affected area:
- application of Iodine as is, by swabbing, for the disinfection of intact skin (the cutaneous solution is left to act for 1 - 2 minutes), as well as in case of minor burns and skin infections (the solution is applied 3 - 4 times a day, until the symptoms disappear);
- application of Iodine in 10% dilution (with distilled water or isotonic saline solution) for washing wounds and in 2% dilution (with isotonic saline solution) for irrigating wounds. Dilution of the cutaneous solution will be carried out only before use.

Composition:
1 ml of cutaneous solution contains 100 mg povidone iodine (corresponding to 10 mg active iodine) and excipients: glycerol, macrogol 400, citric acid monohydrate, disodium phosphate, sodium hydroxide, purified water.
