Modafen cold and flu, 200 mg/ 30 mg, 24 film-coated tablets

Indications:
Modafen is part of the group of nasal decongestant drugs for systemic use, symptomatic, combinations, used to relieve unpleasant symptoms of flu and colds, such as nasal and sinus congestion, headache, fever, sore throat, muscle and joint pain.

It contains ibuprofen, which is effective in relieving pain (analgesic), inflammation (anti-inflammatory) and lowering temperature in case of fever (antipyretic). The other active substance, pseudoephedrine hydrochloride, reduces swelling of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract (decongestant).

The relief of flu and cold symptoms occurs quickly, starting with decongestion of the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, followed by fever reduction and pain relief associated with the flu and cold.

Contraindications:
Do not take Modafen:
- if you are allergic to ibuprofen, acetylsalicylic acid, other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), pseudoephedrine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Precautions:
Before using Modafen, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.

Do not take Modafen if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
Modafen contains ibuprofen which belongs to a group of medicines (NSAIDs) which may impair fertility in women. This effect is reversible when the medicine is stopped. 

Driving and using machines:
Modafen generally has no adverse effects on the ability to drive or use machines. 
 
How to take:
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age (≥ 40 kg): the initial dose is 1-2 film-coated tablets; subsequently, if necessary, additional doses of 1-2 film-coated tablets can be used every 4-6 hours. A maximum daily dose of 6 film-coated tablets (1200 mg ibuprofen) should not be exceeded.

The interval between doses should be determined based on the symptoms observed and the maximum recommended daily dose.

Composition:
- The active substances are ibuprofen 200 mg and pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 30 mg.
The other ingredients are
- Core: lactose monohydrate, maize starch, microcrystalline cellulose, pregelatinised maize starch, sodium starch glycolate (type C), sodium lauryl sulphate, povidone K25, stearic acid, colloidal anhydrous silica.
- Film-coating: hypromellose 2910/3, talc, titanium dioxide (E 171), macrogol 6000, simethicone emulsion SE4.
