Special precautions for use in animals:
Use of the product should be based on susceptibility testing of bacteria isolated from the animals. If this is not possible, treatment should be based on epidemiological information (regional or farm-level) regarding the susceptibility of the target bacteria. Use of the product deviating from the instructions provided in the SPC may increase the prevalence of bacteria resistant to the active substances and may reduce the effectiveness of treatment with other antimicrobials, due to the potential for cross-resistance. Official, national, and regional antimicrobial policies must be taken into account when using the product. Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals:
Persons with known hypersensitivity to the active substances should avoid contact with the veterinary medicinal product. In case of accidental ingestion, seek medical advice and show the package leaflet or the label to the physician. Wash hands after use.
Use during the laying period:
Do not administer to birds producing eggs for human consumption.
Interactions with other medicinal products or other forms of interaction:
Sulfonamides are antagonistic to substances that release para-aminobenzoic acid upon hydrolysis (aniline derivatives, anesthesin, procaine), as well as to folic acid, vitamin PP, brewer's yeast (bacterial growth factors), methionine, peptone, and boric acid.
Overdose (symptoms, emergency procedures, antidotes), if applicable:
In general, sulfonamides have low toxicity. Minimum lethal doses reach 0.2–0.4% of body weight. However, cases of intoxication may occur when therapeutic doses are exceeded and treatment is prolonged.
